 Our founder had AFRICA in mind as he developed his dream. There the brothers
and sisters would be engaged, build monasteries and evangelize the people.

In 1887 the first group of missionary monks and sisters were sent from St. Ottilien to the Apostolic Prefecture of South Zanzibar, East Africa. How it went for them can be read under Tanzania.

1920: 12 sisters expelled from East Africa began the mission in South Africa. The Inkamana Priory was dissolved in 2000.

1920: Several former East Africa missionaries transferred to Southwest Africa, today’s Namibia.

1931: The first sisters began their work in Angola.

1973: Several sisters started their ministries in Kenya.

1993: The first sisters came to Uganda.

The first mission station in PUGU, East Africa, was destroyed in an 1889 uprising.
One sisters and two brothers were murdered.
